Creating ‘Ronda’ from fond memories

Creating ‘Ronda’ from fond memories

Ronda is a city high up in the mountain of the Spanish province of Malaga famous for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio Guadalevin right through its centre. This has to be one of the most beautiful places I have been to.

It was a long drive from Puerto Banus and did not think the windy roads would ever end….. and “Wow”!  Who would have thought such a large village, home to some major high street stores would be found at the top?!

We spent a blissful couple of days in this beautiful traditional village with breathtaking views and quaint traditional coffee shops to rest our feet after shoe shopping!!

We took many photographs of Ronda and it’s stunning views and I felt the need to paint a memory. This is something I don’t do often enough as I mostly focus on abstract work but I had the urge to do something different for a change.

I wanted to capture it’s beauty and tranquility and so felt that the photograph I chose was very fitting.

My ‘memory’ was created using mediums to enhance the rock/stone, and acrylics to mirror the natural beauty of colours.

Hope you like my memory of ‘Ronda’ as much as I enjoyed painting it.
